Jehovah is a Sexist – Part 2

For those who want a syllogistic summary argument, here you go:

I. If Jehovah is a sexist, then Jehovah is a false god and Judaism is a false religion.
II. If Jehovah is a false god and Judaism is a false religion, then Christianity is a false religion.
Therefore:
III. If Jehovah is a sexist, then Christianity is a false religion.

This doesn’t completely do the trick, however, because there is still the question of whether Jehovah is a sexist.  I suppose one could summarize the full argument this way:

III. If Jehovah is a sexist, then Christianity is a false religion.
IV. Jehovah is a sexist.
Therefore:
V. Christianity is a false religion.

That comes close to doing the trick, but premise (IV) is problematic, because Jehovah does not exist (in my view), so it is like the problematic claim “The king of France is bald”.  How can a claim be true when the subject of the sentence does not even exist?  That is why I based the line of reasoning on the disjunctive tautology: “Either Jehovah exists, or it is not the case that Jehovah exists.”  Then I used suppositions to draw inferences from each disjunct.

In any case, the conclusion from the line of reasoning in the last post was as follows:

13. Jehovah is a false god, and Judaism is a false religion. [inferred from (12)]

If we combine (13) with premise (II) above, that would get us immediately to the intended conclusion, however, this very condensed argument would not display the various steps of reasoning required to get from (13) to the conclusion that Christianity is a false religion.  So, I’m going to try to show more detail here and display those steps of reasoning, the chain of conceptual/logical connections that form the bridge between (13) and the conclusion I’m headed towards.

14. Jesus was a devout follower of Judaism. [factual premise]
15. Jesus prayed to Jehovah, and he taught others to pray to Jehovah. [factual premise]
Thus:
16. Jesus was a devout follower of a false religion and Jesus prayed to a false god and he taught others to pray to a false god. [inference from (13), (14), and (15)]
17. If Jesus was a devout follower of a false religion and prayed to a false god and taught others to pray to a false god, then Jesus was a false prophet and Jesus was not the divine Son of God. [analytic truth]
Thus:
18. Jesus was a false prophet and Jesus was not the divine Son of God. [inference from (16) and (17)]
19. If Jesus was a false prophet and Jesus was not the divine Son of God, then Christianity is a false religion. [analytic truth]
Therefore:
2. Christianity is a false religion. [inference from (18) and (19)]
